OCCAC Softball Headlines
For the third year in a row, Cuyahoga Community College has earned the OCCAC’s All-Sports Award as the conference’s best performing institution. Leading the Triceratops’ charge was Anthony Franklin, the 2025-26 Michael Rickard OCCAC Athletics Director of the Year.
Nearly 50 programs representing all nine conference institutions placed student-athletes on the OCCAC All-Academic Team for Spring ’26.
Five conference schools are represented in the 2026 OCCAC Softball honors, including a combined 16 All-OCCAC selections between Cuyahoga and Edison State.
Five individuals representing four institutions are the recipients of the OCCAC’s final Spring Athletes of the Week accolades this season.
Familiar faces Mackenzie Byrne (Edison State) and Julee Phillips (Cuyahoga) snagged the conference’s weekly softball awards for April 20-26. Two incredible performances by Gavin McLane (Bryant & Stratton) and Jamir Ross (Cuyahoga) resulted in co-Player of the Week recognition for baseball while Owens’ Parker Woods earned Pitcher of the Week honors.
Marissa Pine (Edison State), winner of three consecutive OCCAC Pitcher of the Week awards, is joined this week by her teammate Mackenzie Byrne and baseball honorees Dennarius Walk (Terra State) and now two-time Pitcher of the Week Max Wagar (Bryant & Stratton, OH).
Three institutions are represented in the latest OCCAC Athletes of the Week recognition as Cuyahoga’s Josie Miliken (softball) and Keegan Gilbride (baseball) earned Position Player and Pitcher of the Week accolades, respectively, and Tyler Biskup (baseball) of Bryant & Stratton (OH) and Marissa Pine (softball) from Edison State earned the other awards for their respective sports.
Pairs representing Bryant & Stratton (OH) Baseball and Edison State Softball were selected as the latest OCCAC Athletes of the Week on April 6.
Julee Phillips (Cuyahoga) and Andrew Smith (Hocking) are back again as the OCCAC’s Pitchers of the Week, a fourth consecutive honor for Phillips. Their teammates Reese Adkins (Cuyahoga) and Grayson Briggs (Hocking) are the Position Players of the Week.
Four conference institutions and five teams are represented in the latest OCCAC Athletes of the Week laurels. The softball honorees hail from Cuyahoga and Edison State while the trio of baseball picks are enrolled at Cuyahoga, Hocking and Terra State.
