Four conference institutions and five teams are represented in the latest OCCAC Athletes of the Week laurels. The softball honorees hail from Cuyahoga and Edison State while the trio of baseball picks are enrolled at Cuyahoga, Hocking and Terra State.
Softball Player of the Week — Taylor Bauer (Edison State)
Bauer went 9-for-12 (.750) at the dish with more than half going for extra bases as she connected on three doubles, a triple and a homerun for a 1.417 slugging percentage. She also scorched the base paths to the tune of five runs and four stolen bases.
Softball Pitcher of the Week — Julee Phillips (Cuyahoga)
Phillips extends her streak to three consecutive awards to start the 2026 season, her second year in a row earning back-to-back-to-back accolades in the month of March. The sophomore delivered two complete games in league road wins at Terra State and Edison State, posting similar lines of four hits, a walk and eight strikeouts in each contest while allowing a total of two runs (one earned) across a dozen innings. Phillips then came back in Game 2 vs. the Chargers with three frames of no-hit relief.
Baseball Player of the Week — Nate Hill (Cuyahoga)
Hill totaled six hits, including three doubles and a homerun, four runs and five RBI as the Triceratops took three of four games from Terra State. He also drew a pair of walks, running his OPS up to 1.706 for the week.
co-Baseball Pitcher of the Week — Cody Lindsey (Terra State)
Lindsey gathered the second weekly award of his career and became Terra State’s all-time leader in wins. His 7-inning complete game lifted the Titans over Cuyahoga in a tightly-contested 3-2 triumph. Lindsey struck out seven batters while giving up two runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks.
co-Baseball Pitcher of the Week — Andrew Smith (Hocking)
Smith also posted a victorious 7-inning complete game to receive conference recognition. Two unearned runs came across for Clark State on three hits and four walks while Smith sat down a pair of Eagles via strikeout.
