Cincinnati, OH---On a cold and windy Saturday afternoon, the Cincinnati State women's soccer team earned a crucial 1-0 victory over Delta College.
Currently in a battle for the fourth and final spot in the upcoming NJCAA Regional Tournament, Cincinnati State and Delta played to a scoreless first half with the Surge outshooting the Pioneers 5-1. Cincinnati State continued the pressure in the second half, finally converting when freshman Brittani Abner took a loose ball and scored in the 61st minute for the game's only goal.
On her way to earning her 6th shutout of the season, Cincinnati State goalkeeper Kelsie Lee turned away all 4 shots she faced as the Surge improved to 8-5 overall.
Delta fell to 9-5-1 on the season.
Cincinnati State returns to the field on Sunday when the team hosts Jackson College at 2 pm. The game will be played at Walnut Hills High School.
