Almester, Rowan Voted OCCAC Offensive, Defensive Player of the Week Recipients

Matt Almester, a sophomore forward for Owens Community College, and Kyle Rowan, a freshman goalkeeper from Owens Community College, have been voted this week's OCCAC offensive and defensive player of the week recipients.
Almester scored two hat tricks over three games while totaling seven goals and one assist. He led his team to a 6-0 win over OCCAC foe Lakeland Community College last Wednesday with three goals and one assist. On Saturday, he scored the game-winning goal in double overtime to give Owens a 1-0 win over Monroe Community College. He closed his week with three goals in an 11-1 win over Mercyhurst North East on Sunday.
Almester has 19 goals and four assists this year for Owens, which is now 11-7 overall this year. They have won seven straight entering Wednesday's road match against No. 14 Schoolcraft College.
Rowan, meanwhile, did not allow a goal over 213 minutes of play last week. He played the first 55 minutes of a 6-0 win over Lakeland, all 101:29 of a 1-0 win in double overtime over Monroe Community College and the first 57:06 of an 11-1 win over Mercyhurst North East.
Rowan has made 83 saves this year over 18 games.
This is the second award of the season for Rowan.
