Cincinnati State Continues OCCAC Weekly Award Dominance

Mohamed Thiaw and Jake Mutlu of Cincinnati State have been named this week's OCCAC offensive and defensive player of the week recipients in men's soccer.
Thiaw continued his offensive prowess while leading his team to a pair of conference wins over Cuyahoga Community College and Lakeland Community College over the weekend. In a 9-0 win over Cuyahoga, the sophomore totaled one goal and two assists. Then, in a 4-0 win over Lakeland, he had two goals.
Thiaw now leads the nation in goals scored (15) and points (35) this year. This is his third player of the week selection this year and the fifth of his career.
Mutlu, meanwhile, was in goal for both shutouts by Cincinnati State. The freshman saved all 11 shots on goal he faced. He now has 21 saves over seven games this year while allowing just six goals. He has four shutouts, including three in a row.
This is the first player of the week award of the season for Mutlu.
Thiaw and Mutlu have led Cincinnati State to a No. 6 ranking in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I poll. They are 6-0-1 overall and 3-0 in OCCAC play this year. They will hit the road to face Muskegon Community College and Jackson College this weekend.
