Cleveland, Ohio---Cuyahoga Community College's Tevin Williams, a freshman forward, and Jeremiah Carsten, a sophomore goalkeeper, have earned OCCAC offensive and defensive player of the week honors, respectively.
Entering the week at 1-5-1 overall, the duo led the Challengers to a 3-0 record, including a 2-0 conference win over Lakeland Community College. The Challengers also beat Lake Michigan College 5-4 and Muskegon Community College 2-0.
Williams scored the team's first goal in the win over Lakeland, while Carsten held the opponent scoreless through 90 minutes.
It was against Lake Michigan where Williams truly made his mark. He notched four goals, two in each half, to lead his team to a win. Despite giving up four goals, Carsten made two saves in goal.
Then, against Muskegon, Williams scored first in another 2-0 win for his team, while Carsten pitched another shutout. Williams also assisted on the team's other goal.
In all, Williams had three game winning goals, six overall, and one assist in three games. Carsten pitched two shutouts while playing all 90 minutes of each game.
Cuyahoga is 4-5-1 overall and 1-2 in OCCAC play. They will travel to Jackson College and Ancilla College this coming weekend.
