Three Cincinnati State soccer players earn post-season recognition; sign with 4-year programs
Cincinnati, Ohio---Cincinnati State men’s soccer standout Liam Doyle has been named a National Junior College Athletic Association 1st Team All American. Liam, a native of the Isle of Man, has a GPA above 3.5 and will be graduating from Cincinnati State at the conclusion of Spring Semester. He will continue his academic and soccer careers at The Ohio State University.

Cincinnati, Ohio---Cincinnati State men's soccer standout Liam Doyle has been named a National Junior College Athletic Association 1st Team All American. Liam, a native of the Isle of Man, has a GPA above 3.5 and will be graduating from Cincinnati State at the conclusion of Spring Semester. He will continue his academic and soccer careers at The Ohio State University.
Meanwhile, two other members of the men's team – which played in the NJCAA national tournament again this year – have announced their post graduation plans.
Austin Klueh has committed to Marshall University in West Virginia. Marshall competes in C-USA (Division I) and plays against New Mexico, Old Dominion, UAB, South Carolina, Charlotte, Tulsa, Kentucky, FIU, and Florida Atlantic. At Cincinnati State, Austin was awarded 1st Team Ohio Community College Athletic Conference 1st Team All-Region and National Soccer Coaches Association of America 1st Team All-Ohio honors, and he was an NSCAA All-American nominee. Academically, Austin has earned a 3.9 GPA while in the Honor's Program at Cincinnati State. He's made the Dean's List every semester at Cincinnati State. Last year, Austin was recognized as the Scholar Athlete of the Year. He will be transferring to Marshall for the 2014 spring semester that starts next month. After the spring semester at Marshall, Austin will earn his Associates Degree from Cincinnati State.
Michael Anthony has committed to Montreat College in Montreat, N.C., which competes in the Appalachian Athletics Conference in the NAIA. This past season, Montreat finished 7-7-2 overall and 5-4-0 in the AAC. At Cincinnati State, Michael has earned well over a 3.5 GPA and will graduate at the conclusion of the spring semester. He is a Student Ambassador and a member of Phi Theta Kappa honors society. Michael's academic accomplishments include the Academic Achievement & Effort Award, Deans List (twice), and Surge Scholar (twice).
During their two seasons at Cincinnati State Liam, Austin and Michael were part of a soccer program that qualified for the NJCAA Division I National Tournament both years, won two OCCAC and Region XII Championships and twice finished in the Top 10 in both national polls (NJCAA/NSCAA) that rank junior college soccer programs. In the past two seasons, they helped the Surge to an overall record of 34-7-3.
