Cincinnati State's Doyle Named OCCAC Player of the Week

Cincinnati, OH---Liam Doyle, a sophomore for the Cincinnati State Surge men's soccer team, has been named the OCCAC player of the week.

The midfielder recorded three goals and two assists in wins over Ancilla College and Jackson College last week.

In a 3-0 win over Ancilla on Friday, Doyle recorded two goals. His first goal came in the 25th minute, converting a 25-yard strike which deflected off the cross bar and in. He would score again in the 42nd, collecting his own rebound.

In Sunday's 6-0 win over Jackson, Doyle recorded one goal and two assists. His first assist came via a 30-yard pass, which found Kevin Walker, who scored to put the Surge up 2-0 in the 8th minute of the game. Doyle scored a goal of his own in the 36th minute off a free kick from just outside the box. He picked up his second assist of the match in the 37th minute on a Kyle Grothaus goal.

Doyle, who has committed to play at The Ohio State University next season, currently has 13 goals and leads the team in assists (12) and points (38). 

A team captain, Doyle has led the No. 9 ranked Surge to a 14-1-2 overall record with one game remaining against Owens Community College on Saturday.

Notes

The award is the second of the season for Doyle, who was the OCCAC co-offensive POW on Sept. 23.
