Cincinnati State's Liam Doyle and Owens Community College's Austin Combs have been named the co-offensive players of the week in the OCCAC, while Cincinnati State's Tucker Beerman was named the OCCAC defensive player of the week.

The award is for the week ending Sept. 22.

Combs, a freshman midfielder, scored two goals and added one assist in a 5-3 win over conference rival Cuyahoga Community College. His second goal proved to be the game winner in a close contest.

Overall this year, Combs has three goals and one assist for the Express.

Meanwhile, Doyle scored all three of his team's goals in a 3-2 OT win over Lake Michigan College on Sept. 22. It was the second game of the week for Cincinnati State, who lost 1-0 to Muskegon Community College on Saturday.

Doyle is now his team's leading goal scorer with eight goals following this weekend's action. Sunday's game was the first hat trick of his collegiate career.

Doyle's teammate, Tucker Beerman, a sophomore defender, led a defensive unit while playing on an injured ankle this past weekend. A team captain, he helped the Surge not allow a goal scored on the right side of the field all weekend.

"I thought Tucker showed the true meaning of what a captain is," said Cincinnati State head men's soccer coach Mike Combs. "He played great while dealing with an injury that other guys might have sat out with."

Beerman and Doyle have helped lead the Surge to a 7-1-1 record overall. The Surge travel to take on conference rival Owens Community College on Wednesday.
