Cleveland, OH---The Cincinnati State men's soccer team beat Cuyahoga Community College 8-0 on Sunday afternoon to position themselves to play for the conference title against Owens Community College next weekend.
Kyle Grothaus, Kyle Cobbs, and Nick Merhaut scored twice in Sunday's victory. Justin Mitchell and Bradley Gale each scored once and recorded assists. Starting keeper Hunter Kautz recorded a 4 save shutout.
"We played really well this weekend. Our defenders did an incredible job of keeping everything in front of them and our offense clicked at the right time. Our focus now turns toward our game against Owens and competing for a conference title," Head Coach Mike Combs said.
The Surge, who improved to 11-5-1 overall with a 4-1 record in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference, will host Owens Community College on Saturday beginning at 1pm. The game will be held at Xavier University.
