Cincinnati State Men Clinch Postseason Berth With Win Over Lakeland
Kirtland, OH---The Cincinnati State men's soccer team beat Lakeland Community College 2-0 on Saturday to clinch a berth in the Region XII tournament.

Kirtland, OH---The Cincinnati State men's soccer team beat Lakeland Community College 2-0 on Saturday to clinch a berth in the Region XII tournament.
Justin Mitchell, who leads the team in goals and points, opened the Surge scoring in the 15th minute. Liam Doyle, who assisted on Mitchell's goal, scored in the 35th minute off a free kick. Starting keeper Ryan Strunk recorded a three save shutout.
"We took care of business today. Now that we are secure a spot in the tournament our main focus is to gain momentum heading into the postseason," Head Coach Mike Combs said.
Improving to 10-5-1 on the season, the Surge, who play on the road against Cuyahoga on Sunday, have positioned themselves two wins away from possibly hosting a first round tournament contest, which would be played on Oct. 24. The tourney semifinals and finals will be hosted by Muskegon on Oct. 27-28.
