Cincinnati, OH---The Cincinnati State men and women's soccer teams won with game winning goals in overtime on Sunday afternoon.
The men, who faced Ancilla College (IN), were propelled to a 3-2 victory by sophomore Eduardo Zavala's first goal of the season, which came in the opening minutes of the first overtime period to give the Surge a victory. Justin Mitchell, who assisted on Zavala's goal, scored twice as the Surge improved to 9-5-1 on the season.
Playing host to Kellogg Community College(MI), Cincinnati State's Danielle Galbraith, a graduate from Oak Hills High School, broke a scoreless tie in the 107th minute with a goal off a set up pass from Alex Patterson. Starting goalkeeper Kelly Luck saved all seven shots she faced, earning the first shutout of her collegiate career as her team improved to 3-8 overall.
The women will return to action on the road against Midway College on Thursday. The men travel to play Lakeland Community College on Saturday.
