2023-24 OCCAC Men's Basketball News
Summer has kicked off and final grades are in for the spring semester. A plethora of student-athletes hit the books and have earned OCCAC All-Academic recognition.
Cuyahoga Community College Athletics is the 2023-24 recipient of the Ohio Community College Athletics Conference (OCCAC) All-Sports Award.
Five different institutions were represented on the All-OCCAC First Teams for both men’s and women’s basketball.
Cuyahoga’s Quimari Shelton and Marcos Vazquez were both unanimous selections as OCCAC Players of the Week for Feb. 19-25. The Triceratops Basketball programs combined to go 4-0 on the week, each handing losses to Edison State and Terra State.
Freshmen Tavion Pride (Lorain County) and Cayleigh Dupler (Hocking) each earned their first career OCCAC Basketball Player of the Week honor on Presidents Day. Both lifted their respective teams to victory in the week's lone contest.
Emily Blevins (Hocking) and Howard Jeffries (Cuyahoga) were both unanimous selections for this week’s OCCAC Player of the Week awards.
Allen Lattimore of Hocking Men’s Basketball and Paxton Hunley of Edison Women’s Basketball both earned OCCAC Player of the Week recognition for Jan. 29-Feb. 4 after guiding their respective programs to a pair of conference wins that have them atop the OCCAC standings with less than a month remaining in the regular season.
Treshawn Cody (Hocking) and Isaiah Masteller (Clark State) are the co-OCCAC Players of the Week for men’s basketball while Cuyahoga’s Quimari Shelton was a unanimous selection for the women’s basketball’s weekly accolade.
Antwon Ferrell of Terra State joins Edison State’s Daviyon McDonald and Allison Hughes as the OCCAC’s Players of the Week for January 15-21, 2024.
Final grades are now official across the conference and below is a list of the OCCAC’s Academic All-Conference honorees for the fall semester.
Treshawn Cody (Hocking) and Camille Fultz (Clark State) are the OCCAC’s Players of the Week for Jan. 8-14, 2024. Their teams combined to go 5-1 and both earned league recognition along the way.
Daviyon McDonald (Edison State) and Lauren Perry (Lakeland) jumpstarted the spring semester with award-worthy performances in their first games of 2024, each earning OCCAC Basketball Player of the Week accolades.
Edison State’s Allison Hughes and Caleb Iheukwu opened the 2023-24 basketball season by earning OCCAC Player of the Week recognition back on Nov. 6, and each have now become the first repeat honorees of ’23-24. Both Chargers were unanimous selections for the laurel connected to play from Dec. 11-17.
The inaugural OCCAC Student-Athlete Leadership Conference was hosted by Cuyahoga Community College earlier this month. Student-athletes from around the conference gathered for a day full of opportunities to elevate their leadership skills. In total, more than 45 student-athletes, coaches and administrators from across the state listened to speakers on a multitude of topics.
Manny Hill (Cuyahoga) and Camille Fultz (Clark State) were both unanimous decisions for OCCAC Player of the Week recognition (Dec. 4-10), each earning their second career such honor. The sophomores lifted their respective teams to a pair of wins.
Terra State Basketball took ownership of both OCCAC Player of the Week awards for Nov. 27-Dec. 3 with Antwon Ferrell and Anajiah Wallace garnering the conference attention. Ferrell becomes the first in program history to do so. The Titans went a combined 5-0 during the week.
