Kelly, Vaughn Win OCCAC Player of the Week Honors

James Kelly and Cameron Vaughn have been named the OCCAC Players of the Week.
Kelly, a sophomore forward from Owens Community College, picked up his second consecutive player of the week award and third overall this year.
In a 74-40 win over Cuyahoga Community College on Feb. 6, Kelly had 12 points, 10 rebounds, two blocks, one assist and one steal. Then, he followed that up with 30 points, 13 rebounds, two blocks and two steals in a 98-73 win over Sinclair Community College.
In his two games, Kelly totaled 42 points, 23 rebounds, four blocks, three steals and one assist for two-game averages of 21 points, 11.5 rebounds, two blocks, 1.5 steals and 0.5 assists per game.
Kelly has now recorded a double-double in all eight of his team's OCCAC games this year. In those eight games, he is averaging 23 points, 12 rebounds, 2.6 steals, 1.6 blocks and 1.1 assists.
Kelly and the Express will travel to Lakeland Community College on Feb. 13 before hosting Cincinnati State Technical and Community College on Feb. 16. The Express are currently 18-7 overall and 7-1 in OCCAC play. Their game against Lakeland (8-0 OCCAC) will play a major role in this year's OCCAC championship.
Vaughn, a sophomore forward from Cincinnati State Technical and Community College, continues to be one of the nation's top rebounders. In a 67-59 win over Edison Community College on Feb. 6, she recorded 17 points and 17 rebounds. Then, in an 88-40 win over Lakeland Community College, she had 17 points and 16 rebounds in only 23 minutes. She added two assists, one block and one steal in those two games.
Those totals (34 points, 33 rebounds) give her averages of 17 points and 16.5 rebounds this week. In OCCAC play, she is averaging 17.6 points and 15.9 rebounds.
Vaughn and the Surge will take on Columbus State Community College at home on Feb. 13 before traveling to Owens Community College on Feb. 16. Her team is currently 22-4 overall and 7-1 in the OCCAC. Both games will play a large part in a close race for the OCCAC championship.
It is her first player of the week award this year.
