Toledo, OH---Riaz Baksh and Christopher Somma signed their letters of intent at a signing ceremony in the Student Health and Activities Center (SHAC) on Wednesday to become the latest members of the 2012-13 Express baseball freshmen class.
The signings come one day after Anthony Hugan signed with the program.
Baksh (Mississauga HS/Mississauga, Ontario, Canada) will provide a lot of versatility for the Express as he can pitch, as well as play multiple positions in the infield and outfield. At 5'10", he was twice named his high school's Athlete of the Year.
"He will be a nice utility player for us," said Express baseball assistant coach John Parisho. "He has a great attitude about the game."
Somma (St. Augustine HS/Brampton, Ontario, Canada) played shortstop in high school, where he was named the team's MVP. At 5'9", he will also likely see action at third base for the Express.
Parisho said Somma will provide nice production with the bat, and improve the Express defense.
