The OCCAC has announced its player and pitcher of the week awards for this past week.
In baseball, Sinclair Community College's Alex Anders took home pitcher of the week honors, while Lakeland Community College's Miguel Flowers II took home player of the week honors.
Flowers II went a whopping 12-for-16 (.750) from the plate over four conference games against Cuyahoga Community College. In those 16 at bats, he produced one double, five RBI and two stolen bases.
Flowers II is hitting a team-high .402 with 19 runs, three doubles, three triples, one home run, 23 RBI and eight stolen bases for Lakeland (13-18, 6-8 OCCAC).
Anders, meanwhile, tossed a complete game, three-hit shutout against Owens Community College. He walked four and struck out seven.
Among starters, Anders has a team best 2.40 ERA for Sinclair (36-5, 13-1 OCCAC) this year. He is 6-1 with three complete games, while totaling 37 strikeouts over 41.1 innings.
In softball, Lesley Ducat of Owens Community College earned pitcher of the week honors, while Lakeland Community College's Halle McKinley earned player of the week honors.
Ducat went 3-0 last week. In 35.1 innings, she allowed 32 hits, nine runs (eight earned) and 10 walks while striking out 38 and posting a 1.59 ERA. In OCCAC play, she went 2-0 with a 1.49 ERA. She struck out 29 over 28.1 innings while allowing 24 hits, seven walks and seven runs (six earned).
Ducat is 12-5 with 121 strikeouts over 130.1 innings pitched this year. She has posted a 3.22 ERA and has one save, along with nine complete games.
McKinley, meanwhile, went 19-for-35 (.543) from the plate over 10 games last week. She produced 14 runs, three doubles, one triple, four home runs, six RBI, two walks and three stolen bases. In OCCAC play, she went 11-for-23 (.478) over six games while producing eight runs, two doubles, two home runs, four RBI, two walks and three stolen bases.
For the season, McKinley is 33-for-80 (.413) with eight doubles, 26 runs, one triple, six home runs, 11 RBI, five walks and seven stolen bases. Lakeland is 5-18 overall and 0-10 in OCCAC play.
