OCCAC Awards Third Set of Weekly Accolades This Spring

Three Cuyahoga representative are joined by Edison State’s Luke Brockman (Baseball Position Player of the Week) as this week’s spring sport athletes of the week. Olivia Lopez (position player) and Hallie Mullett (pitcher) earned the softball laurels while Ty Pangborn’s no-hit effort attracted Baseball Pitcher of the Week recognition.

Hallie Mullett | Softball Pitcher of the Week | Cuyahoga
Mullett went 2-1 in four appearances, including three starts, during the Triceratops season-opening Spring Break trip. She went the distance in back-to-back triumphant starts versus Black Hawk-Moline and South Suburban. The pair of complete games combined for 13 strikeouts while allowing six runs (four earned) on 13 hits and a lone walk. For the week, Mullet totaled 20 Ks in 20.1 innings pitched with a 4:1 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

Olivia Lopez | Softball Position Player of the Week | Cuyahoga
Lopez lifted Cuyahoga to four victories in the seven contests she competed in. She was good for 13 RBI and two homeruns. The freshman recorded at least one RBI in five of seven games, and drove in three or more runs thrice. Her three multi-RBI games each resulted in a team win.

Ty Pangborn | Baseball Pitcher of the Week | Cuyahoga
Pangborn hurled five innings of no-hit baseball to earn the win in the Triceratops victory over Lorain County. He struck out 12 of 19 batters faced, retiring all but four walks issued.

Luke Brockman | Baseball Position Player of the Week | Edison State
Brockman racked up seven RBI in a doubleheader sweep over Terra State. He tacked on two runs scored and a stolen base in Game Two. Brockman drove in four runs to start the day before adding three more RBI in the second contest.
