The OCCAC has named Marcus Fleming of Lakeland Community College and Emily Fite of Cincinnati State Technical and Community College as the OCCAC Player of the Week in men's and women's basketball.
Fleming led Lakeland to a 3-0 record this week while averaging 17 points, six rebounds, four assists and almost four steals per game. He had 12 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and two steals against Genesee Community College on Nov. 12, 14 points, eight rebounds, two assists and four steals against Butler County Community College on Nov. 15 and 25 points, five rebounds, four assists and five steals against Erie Community College on Nov. 16.
"Marcus showed tremendous growth and leadership in leading us to the championship of our tournament," said Lakeland head coach Terry Bowe. "He was relied upon heavily in the second half, scoring 13 points and sending the game into overtime with a jump shot with two seconds left in regulation. He was also named Tournament MVP."
The Lakers are currently 5-0 this season with Fleming leading the way.
Meanwhile, Fite led the Surge to two victories over Jackson College and Wayne County Community College. She averaged 22.5 points, 14.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, two steals and 0.5 blocks. In the win over Jackson on Nov. 15, she had 24 points, 16 rebounds, two assists and two steals. In the win over Wayne County on Nov. 16, she had 21 points, 13 rebounds, one assist, two steals and one block.
Cincinnati State is currently 4-1 this year with Fite leading the way.
