Columbus State Finishes Sixth at National Championship

Columbus State made its first appearance in the NJCAA Division II Volleyball Championship a memorable one, finishing sixth overall

The ninth-seeded Cougars faced fourth-seeded Des Moines (IA) Area Community College, coming away with a 3-2 victory (25-18, 25-20, 19-25, 21-25, 15-13). With the win Columbus State was in the fifth/sixth place match today where they faced second-seeded Cowley (KS) County Community College. The Cougars were fell in game one 25-16 before taking game two 26-24. Cowley closed the match, take games three and four 25-22 and 25-22, respectively.

The Cougars finished day one with a 1-1 record that included a win over eighth-seeded Central (NE) Community College-Columbus (25-19, 21-25, 25-22, 25-15) and a loss to top-seeded Kishwaukee (IL) College (25-9, 25-18, 24-25, 25-21).

Columbus State prepares for Championship Tournament
Columbus State received the ninth seed of the NJCAA Division II Volleyball Tournament to be held at the Chula Vista Resort in Wisconsin Dells, WI. The tournament is scheduled for Nov 20-22.

The 17th-ranked Cougars will face eighth-seeded Central (NE) Community College- Columbus at 1 p.m. on November 20.

Columbus State, winners of the Region XII District E tournament, is led by Allison Rawlings (.72 service aces per game), Morgan Zumberger (7.1 digs per game), Megan Danner (9.8 assists per game, Lindsay Puthoff (0.9 blocks per game, 2.2 kills per game) and Jackie Ruandulic (2.6 kills per game).

The Cougars were ranked in the NJCAA Division II Volleyball poll every week this season.
