Owens CC drops to 15th in this week's baseball poll
Owens Community College baseball team dropped eight spots this week in the NJCAA Division II baseball poll. The Express finished third in the OCCAC baseball tournament last week and have an overall record of 34-8 and finished 10-2 in the conference. Owens will take part in the NJCAA Region XII sub-regional this weekend. They open play on Friday at 12:30 against Cuyahoga Community College. The tournament is hosted by Lakeland Community College. Sinclair Community College is listed in the others receiving votes catagory. The Pride, 33-10 overall, won the first ever OCCAC baseball tournament and will be the fourth seed in next week's NJCAA Region XII Baseball Tournament in Battle Creek, MI.

Sinclair Hoisington and Kitchen named player/pitcher of the week
Sinclair Community College third baseman Taylor Hoisington and pitcher Billy Kitchen have been named OCCAC player and pitcher of the week for the week of April 20-26. Hoisington went 4-9 with a double, five runs scored, six RBI, a walk, two stolen bases and two sacrafices as Sinclair went 3-0 at the first ever OCCAC Tournament. Kitchen pitched a complete game shut out win over Owens Community College allowing two hits, walking one and striking out three as Sinclair won the game 6-0.

Anderson named OCCAC Golfer of the Week
The Coaches of the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference voted Kurt Anderson of Lorain County Community College OCCAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK for his outstanding play during the week of April 20.  Anderson posted a Medalist score of 72 during the LCCC Golf Invtational at Elyria Country Club on Thursday and followed that score the next day at the Lakeland CC Golf Invt'l with an 75 (T-2) on the Tom Weiskopf Course-Quail Hollow Resort.

Owens CC still in others receiving votes category
The Owens Community College softball team is listed in the other receiving votes category for the second straight week. The Express finsihed the OCCAC regular season with an 8-0 record and are 21-11 overall and will participating in the NJCAA District E softball Tournament in Battle Creek, MI next week.

Owens' Bell named OCCAC Golfer of the Week
Owens Community College sophmore golfer Jimmy Bell was voted OCCAC Player of the Week by the conference golf coaches. Jimmy shot a very consistent 76-76 in the Columbus State Community College and Owens Community College conference golf Tournaments last week. Bell tied for 2nd with two other players at the Columbus State CC Tournament and was the medalist at the Owens CC Tournament.

Sinclair's Ragland and Botjer named baseball player/pitcher of the week

Sinclair Community College's rightfielder Clay Ragland and pitcher Zach Botjer were named OCCAC player and pitcher of the week respectifully.
Ragland, a 5-10, 165 freshman from Chillicotte, OH, went 11-27 (.407) in nine games. He scored 11 runs, had two doubles, eight RBI's six walks seven stolen bases and one sacrifice as the Pride went 7-2 on the week.
Botjer, a 6-2, 162 freshman from Hamler, OH went 1-1 this week with an ERA of 2.92. He gave up seven hits in 12 innings, allowing five runs all earned with eight walks and 15 strikeouts. His win was a complete game win over Lakeland CC.

Owens' Hahn and Lingenfelter named softball player/pitcher of the week
Owens Community College's centerfield Danielle Hahn and pitcher Chelsea Lingenfelter were named the OCCAC player and pitcher of the week respectifully.
Hahn, a sophomore from Castalia, OH, went 7-14 this week with six runs scored four RBI, a walk and a stolen base for the Lady Express.
Lingenfelter, a freshman from Lima, OH, threw two complete games this week. She pitched 12 innings allowing six hits, two runs (one earned) with just on walk and 12 stikeouts and an ERA of 0.58. Her win on Sunday was a one-hitter.

Owens CC listed in NJCAA Division II Softball Poll
Owens Community College softball team dropped out of the top 20 in this week's NJCAA Division II Softball poll, but are still in the other receiving votes catagory. The Lady Express are 20-8 on the season and 8-0 in the OCCAC.

Owens CC moves up three spots in this week's baseball poll
Owens Community College baseball team moved up three spots in this week's NJCAA Division II Baseball poll to number seven this week. The Express are currently 31-6 overall and 10-2 overall and tied for first in the OCCAC. The Express are set to host the OCCAC baseball tournament this weekend in Toledo.

Owens CC baseball team moves up two spots in NJCAA Poll
The Owens Community College baseball team moved up two spots this week to number ten in the NJCAA Division II Baseball Poll. The Express are 25-6 overall and are 6-2 in the OCCAC.

Owens CC softball team hold steady at number 12
The Owens Community College softball team held steady at number 12 in this week's NJCAA Division II Softball Poll. The Lady Express are 14-8 overall and 5-0 in the OCCAC.

Men's Basketball
Sinclair's Anderson named First Team NJCAA Basketball All-Americans.
Mark Anderson a 6-7, sophomore, forward from Sinclair Community College earned First Team All-American honors this season. Anderson averaged 24.8 points, 11.5 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 0.9 assists and 2.4 blockes per game.
OCCAC congratulates Mark for his outstanding season.

Women's Basketball
Two OCCAC players named Division II Women's Basketball All-Americans
The OCCAC had two player named NJCAA Division II Women's Basketball Third Team All-Americans this season. Gail Hartings, a 5-9 sophomore forward from Edison Community College earned Third Team All-American honors. Hartings averaged 18.2 points, 8.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.5 blocks per game for the Chargers. Heather Hassloch, a 6-0 sophomore forward from Cincinnati State Technical & Community College earned Third Team All-Americans this season. Hassloch averaged 19.8 points, 10.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 2.5 steals and 2.4 blocks for the OCCAC Champion Surge.
OCCAC congratulates these two players on their outstanding seasons.

Owens CC breaks into the top 20 in NJCAA poll.
The Owens Community College women's softball team debuted at number 17 in this week's NJCAA Division II Softball poll. The Lady Express are 12-7 overall and 4-0 in the OCCAC softball standings.

The Owens Community College men's baseball team dropped two spot this week to number 12 in the current NJCAA Division II Men's Baseball Poll. The Express are 16-3 overall and 4-0 in the OCCAC Baseball Standings.

Owens Winckowski and Sinclair's Lamka named Player/Pitcher of the week
Owens Community College second baseman Casey Winckowski and Sinclair Community College Erik Lamka pitcher of the week. Winckowski, a sophomore from Oregon, OH, went eight for 15 on the weekend with a double, five RBI, five runs, a walk and an one stolen base. His average for the weekend was .533 as the Express went 4-0 on the weekend.
Lamka, a 6-0 sophomore from Troy, OH, went 1-0 on the week, pitching a complete game shutout allowing just three hits, striking out five batters and walking six. Lamka improved his record to 4-2 on the season in the 3-0 win over Cuyahoga CC.
The OCCAC would like to congratulate both players on the honor.

Owens McIntire and Kulakowski named OCCAC Player/Pitcher of the week
Owens Community College outfielder Lynsey McIntire and Pitcher Kendall Kulakowski have been named OCCAC player and pitcher of the week repectively. McIntire went seven for nine with two doubles, a triple, four runs scored, five RBI, two walks and three stolen bases as the Express went 4-0 on the weekend.
Kulakowski went 2-0 on the weekend pitching two complete games, throwing 12 innings, scattering 7 hits and one walk. She struck out 19 in the two games and allowed just two runs in the second game, both earned.

The OCCAC would like to congratulate both players on the honor.

Owens CC is the only OCCAC team ranked in first poll
The Owens Community College baseball team is the only OCCAC team in the NJCAA Division II baseball poll this week. The Express are ranked tenth with a record of 16-3.
