OCCAC Hands Out Weekly Awards for April 9-15

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – There is a smorgasbord of institutions represented in this week’s OCCAC Spring Athletes of the Week. Each of the four honors went to a different school.  

DYLAN CARPENTER
Sinclair Community College
Baseball Position Player of the Week

Carpenter batted .533 (8-15) with four extra-base hits (two doubles, two homeruns) and drove in a dozen runs while playing in four games during Sinclair’s 6-0 week. He contributed a minimum of an extra-base hit, run scored and RBI in all four contests. Carpenter came around to score seven times in total.  

ELIZABETH MONTGOMERY
Lakeland Community College
Softball Position Player of the Week

Montgomery strung together a six-game hitting streak last week, batting .556 (10-18) overall. She slugged three doubles, a triple and homerun en route to 11 RBI. Montgomery was a factor on the base paths as well, swiping two bags and plating 10 runs personally. She registered four RBI in two different contests.

Baseball Pitcher of the Week

Smith earned his third career and second OCCAC weekly honor of 2018 by flinging a seven-inning complete game win at Edison State. He offered up a lone run on four hits and a walk while striking out nine.

Softball Pitcher of the Week

Romine earned the ‘W’ at Miami University-Hamilton, tossing five shutout innings (complete game). She scattered three hits and a walk in posting the goose egg and striking out seven. Romine was impressive at the dish, too, going 5-for-7 with two doubles, three RBI and three runs scored in two games.
